Why should I learn networking?

A short, sweet and simple answer is – because it is the smart thing to do.  There are more networking professionals needed than software professionals – AND – real networking professionals, who really understand networking are a rare breed and can have a glorious career.

You are living in a networked world.  Right from a home office to the biggest corporation in the world – every business needs networking and there are a lot of people who do not even know what networking is.  Imagine the potential and the reward.  In one world – huge.

Imaging a life without internet, a life without telephone and a life in which things such as any branch banking and booking your railway ticket from anywhere you want do not exist and you will have some idea of what a life that is not networked like.

The fact is, you are living in a networked world.

Even a small home office with two computers feel the need of networking – not having to transfer data from one computer to another by using a floppy disk or cd; being able to access data in one computer without having to physically go to the other computer which might be just sitting on the next table.  Going to the other table may not be a problem but at the least it is inconvenient, just like changing channels on a television without using a remote control may not be a problem but to say the least is inconvenient..

And, a small home office needs networking, think beyond that.  Corporations having offices spread throughout cities, the entire nation and many times the entire world.  Can they even survive without networking.

The fact is surviving today without networking is as absurd as surviving without having a mobile phone and email.  It is a basic need.

And, there is serious shortage of networking professionals.

Simply stated, there are fewer networking professionals than software professionals.

And, majority of people who call themselves networking professionals are not really competent,  they are just good enough to do the networking of a home office.

The result, there is acute shortage of people who are real networking professionals.  Professionals who are industry-ready and can tackle any networking challenge, anywhere in the world, with cool confidence.
